Notes on Work, Trust, and Everything That Connects Us as Humans
An introduction to this space — where we reimagine how we work and how we treat each other.
Hello there, and thank you so much for being here!
I’m genuinely excited about this and truly grateful for it.
Without much delay, let me walk you through the itinerary of this journey that lies ahead.
I’m Avisha.
Professionally, I like to build products, teams, and cultures that create real impact in the lives of everyone they touch, and I believe in learning more about all of it — to get a little better every day.
Personally, I love exploring and thinking about everything that makes us more human.
Sketching, writing, and being around my loved ones have been my companions in this space — sometimes taking turns, sometimes all at once.
Working in tech and startups all these years has been challenging, humbling, and quite an interesting experience, to say the least — but above all, it’s been filled with learnings.
I want to share those learnings here — especially the ones that are less talked about, but are far more concerning, and require a bias for action from our end.
The things beyond the hustle hype, the LinkedIn wins, and the constant chase for growth.
Over the years, I’ve realised that, more often than not, the real cracks in companies don’t come from bad code or failed funding rounds. They come from their people, and how they treat each other.
From how the lack of respect and psychological safety can silence the brightest minds,
and how even a small act of kindness or empathy leaves a lasting impact and fosters trust.
How endorsing pressure is preached more than proactiveness.
How micromanagers can’t stand autonomy and end up stifling creativity and innovation.
How availability, and not outcomes, becomes the measure of productivity.
How leaders make decisions that serve their ego more than their company.
And how, in all this, it’s not just people who suffer — but the business too, often even more.
When I share these learnings, I want them to be more than mere reflections.
I aspire for them to give a voice to those who’ve gone through such circumstances — people who’ve felt invisible, unheard, or unsure of how to take a stand for themselves.
A voice that might equip them to act differently in the future.
And I hope they offer insights to those who want to create better environments — so their colleagues don’t have to go through the same.
Maybe, in the process, we can all become a little better at treating each other like human beings first, and anything else later.
What you’ll find here
My writings here will be something like this — but not limited to:
Tech and startup culture, and the importance of building one
The state of the hiring landscape and the improvements it needs
Leadership, empathy, and what trust — and the lack of it — actually look like in practice
Lessons on navigating the startup world
Functioning from one’s values and principles
The sustainable way of working in tech — and thriving in it
And every once in a while, I’ll step away from the work talk to share a travel story, a sketch, or a creative piece — as life has a lot more to offer than work.
It’s the little things and the quiet moments that remind us to stay human and appreciate its beauty.
For the month of October, I’ll be sharing the sketches I make for Inktober 2025 — a month-long creative challenge where artists all over the world create one ink drawing every day.
This space is my attempt to reimagine and rebuild the culture we work in, because we all deserve it — to be treated with respect and empathy.
After all, work, at its core, is about people — and the kind of world we create when we choose to trust, listen, and treat each other better.
If that resonates with you, I’d love for you to be part of this journey.
Subscribe, share your stories, write back.
